I am Angela Toppin, and I’m excited to be running for Mareeba Shire Council Mayor in 2020.

I am fiercely passionate, and well known for my tenacious drive to get things done. My highest priority for Mareeba Shire is financial security and economic growth.

For over 25 years I’ve had a successful career as school principal at large independent public schools across the Far North. You may have even been one of my students.

My career has given me incredible experiences with managing budgets, collaborating with state and federal governments, and pitching for sorely needed investment.

I bring transparency, expert consultancy and long-term strategy to Mareeba Shire Council.

To deliver the goal of economic security we have 2 major issues that need attention.

• First, we are in dire need of a safe, efficient and reliable transport corridor.
• Second, our residents and farmers need water security that is affordable, and sustainable.

These are divisive issues that affect our livelihoods. They need both strong leadership and skilful navigation with all levels of government.

I am committed to deliver the best outcomes for Mareeba Shire drawing upon my long-term experience liaising with ministerial advisors and ministers from all major political parties.

I’ve lived in the Far North my whole life, and I am convinced the best place to live in the region is right here in Mareeba. We have a rich social fabric and ever-expanding opportunities for growth.

My focus is on infrastructure, business and economic security and our strong community culture.

I am committed to a strategy that balances the social need for parks, recreation and events with the business of agricultural and primary industries.
